Peace in the Storm

Scripture: Mark 4:39 (KJV)
“And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”
Storms have a way of revealing where our trust truly rests. When the winds rise and the waves begin to beat against the boat, fear can speak louder than faith. The disciples knew what it meant to feel overwhelmed, even while Jesus was right there with them.
But the storm did not surprise the Savior. What frightened the disciples was still under His authority. With only a word, Jesus commanded the wind and the sea, and everything that had been raging had to become still.
There are times in life when we ask, “Lord, do You see what I am going through?” The answer is yes. He sees the storm, He sees your fear, and He sees the place where your faith is being stretched. His presence does not always mean the absence of trouble, but it always means you are not alone.
The same Jesus who calmed the sea can calm your heart. He may speak peace to the situation, or He may first speak peace within you. Either way, His voice is greater than the storm.
Do not let the waves convince you that God has forgotten you. The Lord is near, His power has not changed, and His peace is still able to rule over every troubled place.
Prayer:
Father, when storms rise around me, help me to remember that You are with me. Quiet my fears and strengthen my faith. Speak peace over my heart and teach me to trust Your power even when life feels uncertain. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Reflection Question:
What storm in your life do you need to trust Jesus to speak peace over today?
